The restaurant is located in a historic building from the middle of the 18th century. Century. A tour through the restaurant takes you back a few centuries to the time of the restaurant's name, the Trier Archbishop Balduin of Luxenburg (1285 – 1354). rupture stone masonry, partly roughly plastered walls, which the St. Wendeler painter Klaus Riefer has beautifully painted. The ambience, as I have already described, can hardly be surpassed by attention to detail and originality. Food The well-sorted menu includes soups, salads, toasts, cold dishes and steaks also classic Saarland cuisine such as stuffed with bacon cream sauce and sour wort or Lyoner – panties with roast potatoes. Today I chose the Rumpsteak with herbal butter, fries and salad at 16,90€. Add a mineral water to 1,60€ and a Sauvignon blanc 0,2l to 4,50€ and as Verdauerli a Malteser Aquavit to 2,50€. All ingredients were used fresh and of impeccable quality. The supplemental salad was a bit sweet, but the steak was perfectly roasted to the point medium, juicy, tender and very tasty. Good 4 stars for the kitchen. Service not always satisfactorily, especially if the place is well visited, you have to wait for food and drinks for a disproportionately long time. Conclusion: very good grounded cuisine in rustic, stylish ambience. But for larger groups my recommendation: “reserve a table and, above all, eat something”.
