Solsiden - Sankt Hanshaugen

This restaurant was highly recommend however I was highly disappointed. Everything about this restaurant should give you the impression of receiving great service and good food. Everything here was simply, just fair or special, not good and not great considering it's reputation and price. Upon our arrival the host stand seem to be the beginning of confusion and poor service. It's one of those restaurants with all hands on deck causes too many hands in the pot! Once seated several people came to assist us and it wasn't because of the language barrier each one of them spoke English fluently. We placed our order, got our food, ate it was full but not necessarily satisfied. There was one server she was pretty decent but the rest of the experience was mediocre. The only standout were the scallops, perfectly cooked and delicious. Look at the pictures because I really don't have the energy to discuss my average meal! Would I go back or suggest this restaurant? NOPE!

Absolutely adore this place! Fresh and truly amazing fish, great tasting menu and wine pairing what was recommended by the waiter. We spent six hours here and truly loved it!

It was our first day in Oslo, and little did we know, we'd be spending over three lovely hours eating seafood and drinking wine by the water side. The meal was well paced, didn't feel rushed, and time just flew by. We made reservations a few weeks prior. We had the king crab au gratin, highly recommend. The lemon dessert was very tasty. All the food was enjoyable.

If you want a tower of shellfish that will fill you up (even me as The Bottomless Pit was full by the last shrimp), then here is your seaside treat. Can sit outside til late summer sunset or inside for a more open cafe feel. There is essentially one dish here, but it's heaping with a mix of lobster, sweet langoustines, mussels, crab claw, snow crab leg, and a moat of shrimp, seemingly bottomless. It's 110 euro equivalent but you will be happy and full by the end. Also serves cocktails as well as wine and bubbly. A wonderful treat !
