Waldschenke Staar

I am very surprised by some of the negative comments from other people. I've never seen this before and I'll go there at least once or twice a year. Yes, the service is not always incredibly fast when you sit in the garden and it is very full, but in general it is good, and the food is excellent. Sitting inside through the fire is always very special and sitting outside in the garden when it is warm. However, my recommendation is to always bring something warm when you sit outside, because somehow there is always a cool design from the nearby forest and electricity. And booking a table is recommended.

Driving back to the Weinviertel from Vienna we stopped here just for a coffee and cake, and fell in love with the place, a family run restaurant off the beaten track and with the most charming staff..... If the brothers Grimm had run a restaurant this would have been it, do yourselves a favour and spend a couple of hours walking in the Wienerwald (Vienna Woods) then stop here for lunch, a chicken spit roasted on a open fire, and make sure to try the Mohn Kuchen, oh boy was it good. After lunch don't forget to cross the footbridge bridge leading away from the patio area and take a look at the small but beautiful Chapel right in the heart of the woods.... This is one of those places I can't wait to revisit....

A so nice restaurant some 20kms away from the city of vienna, speciality is chicken and anything that revolves around it, the chicken liver and the grilled chicken were out of this world, the location is excellent. Good helpful very friendly staff, the place is not easy to get to by public transportation.

We had lunch in this traditional resturent, atmosphere was from the old times, it is a family running Resturent, food was so delicious , expert for barbecue chicken, Beautiful location in the middle of Vienna woods .will go back agin in the future,

Also die schlechte Bewertung con "impulstrend" kann ich nicht nachverfolgen. Wir waren schon viele Male in der Waldschenke und meinen, dass die Grillhenderln dort am besten sind. Der Garten ist sehr gemütlich und die Bedienung ist freundlich. Wir haben nichts auszusetzen, außer, dass es nur pro Tisch die Rechnung gibt. Ja das ist unangenehm. Das wirkt sich halt dann beim Trinkgeld aus - wenn man die Arbeit des Obers selbst machen muss.
