Amare Fish Drink

I happen by chance in this place, fresh fish and sandwiches with exceptional fish. I have to go back and try everything else!

All great, cozy apartment, friendly managers but especially fresh fish,(we also ate of the raw), excellent octopus salad. recommended recommended

Close to main piazza, one of the few fish restaurants in San Vito, Played it a bit safe by going for crusted salmon and grilled tuna with cherry tomatoes and rocket, but wider menu looked interesting, including octopus burgers ! However, for E50 inc a couple of G&Ts and water was pretty good value for money,

Went here when first opened and had a lovely platter of seafood for 2. However, on this visit whilst the service was OK, the food was not. We ordered oysters to start, mixed fried fish and mixed grilled fish and mixed grilled vegetables. The vegetables were cold, some straight out of a jar, aubergines were really dry. Mixed fried seafood was ok, but the mixed grilled seafood was terrible. Overcooked and dry, with some not cooked properly and warm/raw! Needless to say I was quite ill about 4 or 5 hours later, both ends!! Oysters were lovely and fresh though A real shame, San Vito needs seafood restaurants and this should and could do a lot better! Miramare in San Sabina or Specchiloa Frigatore are better and safer options for quality fresh seafood.

San Vito has needed a speciality fish restaurant for many years and Amare certainly fills that gap. Catering to locals and visitors alike this casual and friendly bistro specialises in fritto misto, octopus and crudo. The fritto misto is the best I have eaten, usually a mix of tiny fish and baby octopus, this is full of larger whole fish, prawns and squid. The octopus is cooked sous vide so it is super tender then char grilled or fried depending on your choice. Amare is not the place to have a formal 3 course dinner, but who wants that these days, but you can drop by for a quick snack, oysters and champagne or a seafood super served by the charming Deborah and Osvaldo. I really like Amare, it is comfortable and on trend and I hope that you try it too.
