La Tana Delle Lepri - San vero milis

This is an unpretentious restaurant lying at the end of Mandriola bay, San Vero Milis, Sardinia – a very un-commercialised spot. The bay features a long wide sandy beach and the restaurant has great views over the bay. On the ground floor is a bar and upstairs the air conditioned restaurant where you can people watch to your heart’s content. Boats bob around in the bay and it all makes the experience more interesting. On our first visit we had Gamberini, some beautiful sweet and tasty large prawns grilled and served with a salad. These we were told were caught the same morning and judging by the freshness that seemed right. There are a range of pizzas and pastas available but fresh fish is their speciality. The second time we went we had grilled seafood which consisted of prawns, gilt head bream and a superb whole squid. A fresh salad and fries complements the whole dish with some very good local wine. Service is friendly and efficient but don’t go at weekends unless you have plenty of time as the Italians flock to this beach and restaurant. You can expect to pay around €50 for a main course, two beers, wine and water with the local bread being served. There are several other beach side restaurants along the bay but these tend to be fast food outlets and La Tana is by far the best.

Occupying a very pretty spot at the end of the beach the restaurant is probably about as central to mandriola as you can get. We arrived at just the wrong time to get one of the tables with a view so sat inside the main restaurant part which is very bright blue and functional but feels homely enough. Friendly waiting staff and fairly fast service although this was a Thursday evening in July so I suspect you won't get the same level of service on a Saturday in August. Pizza was delicious and antipasti perfectly acceptable. Bill came out very reasonably for two people, would go back if we were staying in the resort longer.

It took forever to get a simple pasta dish... Quality not amazing, service was not good at all and rhe restaurant is even dirty.
