Cafe catedral is not about decoration and frills and the trappings of someone who discovered coffee on the last Tuesday. it's about coffee, coffee, coffee and a bake. they do not try to be the next juan valdez, or a joint that is served coffee, which is pre-relieved by the weasels. it is not about saving the rainforest or exposing art that are made by the hands of the edgeless. they are not fey and chichi either. cafe catedral is about coffee, this is the only reason why they should go first in a coffee shop. You can thank me later.
Just one look at this shop and you will realize Don Alberto loves life, San Miguel and ...coffee! We first met him and his family in Puerto Vallarta where he has his original store. He left beach living after 30 years to open his next...outlet in San Miguel de Allende. He will soon open his third in SM. Coffee is from fertile Chiapas and the flavor is rich and dimensional. His choice of espresso machine for this location is a vintage 1957 six lever Fetma. Magnificent and resembles the chrome front of a classic Cadillac! His other passion is repairing espresso machines. You will always see the work in process in his humbly warm coffee shops. Light decorations such as perforated tin stars create an ambiance but in no way commercial. Give them a try and if you like the coffee as much as we do, give it a thumbs up! Provecho.
Excelente café con muy buena ubicación, excelente para hacer un alto y tomar un refrigerio. Excelente café express
I fell in love with Cafe Catedral when the owner hugged and kissed his big old Italian espresso machine! It is a beauty - six massive pull handles and the cappuccino is a work of art. A collection of antique espresso makers is displayed like little sculptures. I love espresso and finding this place around the corner from our accommodation made San Miguel de Allende even more lovely.
