Kyoto Sushi - San Mateo

For some reason, there are tons of Japanese restaurants in downtown San Mateo. Kyoto has decent sushi and enough seating that even big groups can be seated immediately. I usually order a bento box…your choice of two items: sashimi, chicken teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, chicken katsu, and more. I always choose the sashimi (6 pieces of salmon, tuna, and hamachi) and salmon teriyaki. The bento also comes with miso soup, rice, and salad. They also have a good selection of Korean food. My coworkers like to order the bibimbap. If you order any of the Korean entrees, they’ll also bring you a few plates of kimchee. The staff there is always very friendly, but if they’re very busy it can take them a while to bring out all of a party’s food.
