I've been a regular KoJa Kitchen diner for years. I was excited to see them down on the Penninsula. The Koja was soggy. The rice on the inside of the Koja was soggy slop. Sloppier than rice pudding sloppy. The Kamikaze fries were 1/2 the size of what they have been. The korean beef bbq that used to be on those fries in lovely chunks of beef have been reduced to a sprinkling of ground up beef crumbs. There was NO kimchi. Fries were all in all very disappointing. Up price and meet expectations, or keep price and tiny size buy clearly convey what you intend to deliver.
We ordered 2 Short Rib KoJa , one with pineapple and one without, neither one came with pineapple. It was not like we remembered, with the green onion and sesame seed over a perfect piece of Kalbi between 2 rice cake. The rice cake was over cooked and brown. The Kalbi was just smothered in sauce, more like an au jus sauce, very watered down and no flavor. The kim chi fries were very mediocre like the kim chi. The Korean Buffalo Wings were very soggy and sauce was too spicy...very disappointed:
I ordered my food today for an advanced delivery. The bag had some of the juices from the food leaking inside the bag. I'm not sure if it was because of how the food was handled or the way it was packaged. I Got the umami fries and they were really soggy. I don't know if it was because it was mixed in with the pork, or because of the steam in the bag. The burger was okay. I felt like there was more rice than there was meat. I would suggests using plastic, instead of wrapping the food in foil and cardboard containers
Their premier dish is the Koja sandwiches which is like a burger but the bun is made of rice and the meat is bulgogi. So good! Also recommend a side of umami fries and strawberry-mango lemonade.
