Mama Kat's - San Marcos

If you're in the neighborhood, you definitely need to check out Mama Kat's! Be sure to order the cinnamon roll—it's a must-try. The breakfast was delicious, and they serve fantastic coffee as well. Arrive early to avoid any wait!

After all these years, it remains one of the best breakfast spots around. If you're planning to visit on the weekend, I recommend checking their website and possibly making a reservation, as the wait can be quite lengthy. However, during the week we were seated immediately. Just a heads up about parking: it's a small strip mall, so finding a spot can be challenging at any time of day.

The food was exceedingly overpriced and didn't look appetizing at all. It lacked flavor and was overall unenjoyable. The hash browns were served in a rectangular shape and were starchy, with an undercooked interior. My Denver omelette, which was advertised as being made with three eggs, contained only four small pieces of ham and was both thin and tasteless. They charged an outrageous $22.95 for that omelette! To make matters worse, we had to wait 30 minutes after placing our order for our food to arrive. My husband ordered the farmhouse skillet, which was very mediocre. It was supposed to include three types of meat and home fries, but he barely found any meat until he was halfway through; it was mostly just potatoes and gravy! Additionally, the pepper shaker was empty, and although we were given jelly, there was no knife to spread it. This was our first and last experience at this restaurant. Our breakfast for two ended up costing $66.00, and honestly, I've had better food at Denny's for a more reasonable price.

I ordered an egg white omelette with jalapeños,turkey sausage, pepper jack cheese, spinach and chopped tomatoes with extra crispy hash brown and coffee and sourdough toast. My companion had waffles which didn’t last long either. Old fashioned cute decor, service was good. I was glad we got there early because walking out at 8:30AM there was a line waiting to be seated. The add on’s add up though my omelette was $26. However, everything was delicious!!!

Not bad not to pricey however maple syrup tasted like carob a substitute invert sugar opposed to the proper stuff.
