Contribuiți la feedbackI was looking for a unique breakfast place, and decided to try this cafe based on the recommendation of my son. Located right near the train station it has a kind of a rustic country farm ambience. Always on the lookout for something new and different I decided to try the Turkish Eggs. The sweet and savory garlic dill yogurt with the chili butter, the medium (jammy) boiled eggs swimming in it actually, was a nice combination of flavors. The chili butter is spicy so have lots of water on hand courtesy of the fun old fashioned dispenser with a modern plumbing feature out of sight below. See photo. The baguette had just the perfect amount of crunch on the edges, tasted fresh baked. Alise took my order and she was very sweet and told me the Turkish Eggs were one of her favourite lighter fare dishes. I am so happy I went with her recommendation as well as my sons. Looking forward to returning someday to try the signature flax waffle with fruit toppings and almond spread when I'm a little hungrier.
We were in San Luis Obispo and looking for a place for breakfast that served some unique fare and so we decided to try Sally Loo's. Overall, it was OK but way overrated. Here is what we noticed: It was around 9:15am on a Sunday morning and it was already jammed. You wait in a slow moving line to order at a counter and then scramble to try to find a table hoping that they'll clean one before you sit down. Probably half the time we spent in the restaurant one of us was in line while the other one was holding a table because we were afraid we wouldn't find seating after we ordered. I ordered the Belly Bowl and my wife ordered the Quiche with Salad, and we also got a blueberry scone to split while we were waiting for our food. The scone was the best part! Overall, the food was ok, but neither dish was extraordinary and really not worth the price tag. Bottom line: Get ready for a less than relaxing experience if you go to Sally Lou's, and also get ready to pay top dollar for pretty ordinary fare as you wait in a long line, order at the counter, pick up your own water, and bus your own dishes at the end (and be asked to add 15% or more tip on when you charge your bill). We likely won't go back.
I am so glad to find this spot offering gluten free options. I was most interested in having a gluten free burrito or quesadilla since I've never been able to order one at a restaurant. When we arrived, we found they were located in a cute little part of SLO I had never been to before. We got in line at 11:23 am on a Friday and there was a short line. All the tables were packed and my husband stood around to scope out a table. There were tables open outside but it had just started to drizzle. After I ordered, I found my husband holding down a shared table in the back corner. There was enough space for us three plus the other party of two to sit very comfortably. We could've fit a few more bodies on the bench seats. When I ordered, I learned they were out of chicken, tri tip, and sausage so we couldn't get the Kings of Neon Wrap with Chicken or Breakfast Burrito that had sausage. Instead, we went with the Loco Moco Burrito and subbed Carnitas in the Quesadillatronic (quesadilla stuffed with cheese, scrambled eggs, and originally with chopped tri tip). My son ordered the Avocado Toast (without Cayenne) and the Islay Sunrise Smoothie (made of mango, strawberry, banana, ginger, orange juice, and chia seeds). We loved everything that we ordered and didn't have to wait too long for our food to arrive. The portions were really big so we had to pack half of every dish to go. The service all around was very friendly. I'll be back on our next trip!
Sheesh this is good food! Breakfast burrito really blew me away. Amazing flavor, really good sauce in there. A top tier breakfast burrito, and I've had and ranked many many breakfast burritos. I'll remember this one for years to come. Any time we're in SLO we'll come for sure! Service was quick and we had no problem finding a good table. Apparently their drinks are good too, but we didn't try. My wife tried the Turkish eggs, and it was pretty good too! We tried to make that one time at home but it didn't turn out so good, so it was nice to have a well-made version of this dish. Burrito takes the cake though!
Cute breakfast spot with nice, friendly staff. My son and I both had the egg sando and chai latte it was done really well. The baked goods looked so good we purchased some to go. The line to order was out the door, and it did take some time to get to the front but nobody seemed to mind. There are tables inside best to have one person in your party get a table while someone else orders. The food doesn't take long to come out once you've ordered.
