I try my best to support local businesses, but I can't stand feeling taken advantage of. There’s no public restroom available, and customers are directed to Safeway instead, which is quite amusing. The menu lists the wings at $14.34, but the owner charged me $15.54, claiming that was tax. Then I noticed I was charged tax on top of that—it's frustrating when businesses pull this kind of double-dipping. The atmosphere felt messy and unprofessional, and it’s disappointing to see someone smiling at customers while clearly taking advantage of them. As for the food, it was just okay. The gumbo samples were underwhelming and seemed like they had been sitting out for days. Don’t even get me started on the cook. If you’re looking to be taken advantage of, this is the place for you. UPDATE: I asked for cups, and they were empty! It’s ridiculous! Clearly, the service wasn’t up to par. Spare me the excuses!

I asked for tap water since I didn't want a drink, and the server seemed surprised (and a bit disgusted) by my request for water from the faucet. They asked if I would prefer bottled water instead, so I agreed just to move on with the conversation. I later noticed there was no charge for it on the final receipt, so I'm not sure if the server forgot to add it or if bottled water is complimentary. Overall, it's not a complaint, but if you want to avoid any confusion about drinks, you might want to either skip ordering water or just bring your own!

The owner was incredibly welcoming. The food was cooked to perfection! I had the smothered chicken with rice, gravy, and greens. They also let me taste a fried chicken strip that was so moist and perfectly breaded!
