Galvan's Market - San Leandro

This review is one of those tailored for its specific context. This establishment is a small-scale grocery and butcher shop, featuring a wide variety of meats, an impressive selection of cheeses, and some chosen pastas and sauces. They also offer sandwiches, but without any quirky names like Ike's or the extravagant topping options you find at Subway. The sandwiches are straightforward and generously filled with freshly sliced meat that you can see being prepared. I'm bumping my rating from four to five stars mainly because of the laid-back yet friendly staff.

Didn't catch the name of the gentleman that helped us but he gave the best service I've had at a deli in years. Came for sandwiches and ended up getting some organic sodas, BBQ sauce, and pasta as well. He told us how most products came from Portugal and Italy. Sandwiches were great. Will definitely be back.

This is my go to spot for high quality meat and super friendly service. This is a couple cities over from me but I make the trip because I can’t find the same quality with this great of a selection.You can’t beat seeing familiar faces that are very knowledgeable about their offerings and give suggestions on how to prepare. I’ve gotten tri tip, prime rib, ham, corned beef among the many other items they offer. You can’t go wrong and will find what you need here for special occasions or everyday meals. They have seasoning, sauces and other items that can help complete the meal too.They also have a deli and their sandwiches so good! Definitely worth a lunch stop.There is no seating for eating in, so more like grab and go but they do have parking which is very convenient.

The smell is reminiscent of a traditional butcher shop. The meat is excellent, and the selection is impressive.

This was my first visit to Galvan's, and I had a great experience. The staff were friendly, and they even had my favorite, Pecorino Romano! That was a nice surprise. Thanks, everyone! I'll definitely be returning soon for some fresh fish and a couple of juicy ribeyes.
