Restaurants are expensive and offer few options, most of them sandwiches and salads. For that reason I decided to give Ficus a try, no matter the reviews it had. The place is nice but food is average. I had the beef fajitas $20 dollars) and it was to expensive for an average food. The margarita came on a plastic cup and with too much ice $9). The bill added up to $35 with tax and service what I find expensive for a two star's lunch menu. Service was excellent and raised my review by one star. It is charged at the bill already.
So this was my first meal experience in Puerto Rico...grouper fingers and 3 chicken tacos. And no groupers do not have fingers! 'sigh ' We chose this place due to its proximity to the Sheraton hotel, it is literally right next door. The grouper was good and the tacos were mediocre. The chicken was a tad on the dry side. The hot sauce helped. For $9 a piece, the portion sizes were dissapointingly small. And if you wanted to know, it is $2 for a 20oz bottle of water. After giving us menus, the server came back quite a few times to see if we were ready to order. Finally we ordered, and I chose the chicken tacos over beef on her suggestion. But I can 't blame her for the short comings of the cook. In the end, she refused to split our bill and we were accessed a 15% gratuity on a 2 person table. This is not hot. I 'm not convinced that the service received was worth the 15% tip. Anyway, I had spotted the fried ice cream on the menu and decided to double back later for it. I ordered it to go. There were 3 small scoops of fried ice cream each drizzled with a sauce: chocolate, strawberry and caramel. I love fried ice cream but this was quite the dissappointment! I don 't really have the words to describe the breading so horrible will have to suffice. Definitely not worth the $8 they charged for it. And to add to my dissappointment, they gave me a fork and knife for my ice cream! a fork?? really?? When I asked for a spoon I was told we don 't have spoons for 'to go ' . Also not hot.
Yuck...the food is nasty here...i actually spit it out! we had the entire patio reserved for a private party (of 200 people! i know they hooked us up on special pricing ....passed apps full bar. i tried to eat the apps and they were disgusting! after a fabulous food day (at Vagon this was a major Puerto Rican disappointment. drinks were stiff...i kept it simple (don Q rum and soda water and lime ...since i was drinking sugary sangria and mojito 's earlier that day. view is nice.. location is nice (right across from the sheraton ... service was ultra slow but friendly. do not recommend...unless you just want to come here for drinks on the patio
My extra star was for the cute black birds tweeting about. I've had better tacos on an airplane. Please rather than using nachos cheese pump and then hiding it with a top layer of real cheese, just DON'T put liquid gag pudding on there at all. Margarita had good ice in it. I think my favorite part was the salt on the brim.
The food was pretty average, and I wasn't that impressed to be honest. The selection of restaurants inside the Sheraton Hotel were lacking, so we had no choice but to eat here. I'm not even going to bother reviewing what I ate here. It was forgettable, but one thing you should remember. Watch out for your receipts! They'll add their gratuity there.
