Costa Rica Beer Factory - San Jose

Another cool place in barrio escalante. We had a couple apps: pretzel bites and the Diablo a Caballo (bacon wrapped dates with a sweet pineapple sauce). Both were good. We both drank the Tortuguero IPA. I knocked off a star because there was about an inch of head on every glass of beer we ordered. The beer is naturally heady but one would expect an experienced bartender to knock it off and add a bit more beer. Still, we would likely go back. The area has a lot of cool places and is super walkable.

I really wanted to love this place because I heard such good things about it from the locals but it ended being my least favorite restaurant. The atmosphere was good, they had great music playing the entire night but that’s about the only thing I really enjoyed. The service was ok but I was mostly disappointed with the food, there wasn’t a single thing out of the array of food we ordered that I really enjoyed. Everything was just ok.

We went in the daytime when it was quiet. We had a flight of beer but they all tasted a bit chemical with too much synthetic fruit taste for my liking, maybe more for someone that likes alcopops than traditional craft beer. The staff were friendly but a little too attentive as they were by the table asking what we thought of each beer as we had it, I would recommend venturing round the corner if the beers here aren't to your taste as there's other great options

We had a great time at this place. Came on a Tuesday night while in San Jose because the reviews looked good and the pictures looked cool. We weren’t disappointed. We didn’t eat here but had some beers and they were delicious. The staff was very friendly. The place is huge with indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommend
