Armadillo Willy's Bbq - San Jose

Do not skip the corn bread. Its excellent. The potato salad is good but it is risky to get it because sometimes the potatoes are really hard and sometimes they are perfect. The tater tots were perfectly crispy. Even with delivery time. They were unsalted, which is perfect for me because Id like to control how much salt is on anything fried. Highly recommend. I love getting the smoked chicken Caesar salad. Again, this is one of those situations where when they include all the things theyre supposed to then its wonderful, but they have a habit of forgetting the dressing and utensils nine times out of ten. I recommend getting it for pick up so you can check the bag!

The brisket on the sandwich was quite dry and had a stale taste. I had requested it to be juicy. Moreover, the Texas toast was also stale. These are my two favorite items, and unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy either because they were so unpleasant.

The portion of fries was incredibly small for $7, and there was no barbecue sauce included with the order. The ribs were much drier than usual. It’s frustrating to spend nearly $100 on barbecue and not have any sauce.

The Armadillo Willys near us (Union and Camden) was fantastic. I tried the one on Blossom Hill once, but I found the portions to be much smaller and the quality to be inferior.

The food is excellent, and the service is good as well. However, I took away one star because of their unusual serving method. They ask every customer for their phone number and send a text when your order is ready for pickup. Given the high prices, I believe they should bring the meals to the table instead of asking for tips. Additionally, I feel uncomfortable sharing my phone number out loud in front of strangers—it's a rather strange practice. While you might be taken aback by the prices, the large portion sizes do provide some value for the higher-than-average cost. This makes me puzzled as to why they don’t offer table service.
