We had been to the pub side before just for drinks, but we were able to snag a late dinner here on our most recent trip last month and we really enjoyed ourselves. We had a nice beer flight and Indigo Hibiscus cocktail and our drinks were very tasty. My wife had the Shepherd's pie and I had the fish and chips and both of these were cooked perfectly and were very filling; we love seeing places that have a small menu since that usually means they make those items well and that is definitely the case here. The best part of the meal though was getting to talk to our waiter, David. He was a blast and we loved getting to know him. We would definitely recommend that people try to sit in his section as he's very personable, provides excellent service, and was just a great guy. The Rose Crown is a wonderful restaurant at Epcot and we'll definitely be back!
I have been to Epcot thousands of times but never had eaten at the UK Pavillion. They say is at their terrace facing the lagoon. Their menu is not that elaborate. They only have you to choose from 4 main courses. For starters we ordered the Scottish Egg, hard boiled egg coated with sausage and friend. It was pretty good. For main entree I ordered the Bangers and Smash, which is mashed potatoes with two traditional sausages on top with mushrooms, onions and browns gravy. This was my favorite dish. Lots of good flavors. We also ordered the traditional fish and chips. Three big pieces of fish (I believe it was cod) friend fries and tartar sauce. The fish taste good but felt it had too much beet battered. You could barely see the fish. We did not order dessert as I wanted to try other places in the park. Not sure if I will return again but only for the sausage dish. You can also order the fish and chips on the counter and not sit in the dining room.
Jack, our server, was very welcoming and offered some great recommendations. We specifically came for the fish and chips, which did not disappoint. Malt vinegar was readily available on the table for a splash on the fish. I considered trying the Snake Bite Imperial Pint, but I was mainly looking for water to quench my thirst; perhaps I’ll try it next time. The fried fish was outstanding, and we were informed that it was Hake. The dinner portion includes three large, tender pieces of fish that are perfectly beer-battered and crispy. Along with the fish, we were provided plenty of lemon wedges and a cup of delicious tartar sauce and ketchup for the chips. However, I wished they offered a smaller plate option with just two pieces—I couldn’t finish the third one. The couple sitting next to us made a smart choice by sharing one order, which we should have done as well. The chips, while decent, were a bit on the thick side, resembling steak fries. I personally prefer thinner fries. As for authenticity, they were indeed close, though the absence of skin was a bit of a letdown for me since I enjoy it on my chips. My husband remarked that the fish and chips at Rose & Crown were superior to those in England, but they were still quite good here. I would definitely order them again, though we'll share an order next time. We opted not to try the Sticky Toffee Pudding this visit since we had indulged in a flight of caramels earlier in the day, but I’m eager to sample it next time. Overall, the service was excellent, and the restaurant was clean. Everything was quite enjoyable, and I highly recommend this restaurant for dinner.
Since my last review, I’ve transitioned to a vegetarian diet and was pleasantly surprised to find a shepherd's pie made with Impossible meat on the menu. Our server kindly mentioned that it could easily be made vegan by simply leaving out the cheese. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the flavor turned out to be outstanding!
During my first visits to EPCOT, I didn't fully appreciate what a dining destination it is. I decided to change that on this trip, exploring one restaurant at a time! I kicked things off at the Rose Crown Dining Room, especially since I enjoyed the fish and chips from Yorkshire County Fish Shop. Naturally, I ordered the Fish and Chips here as well! I was pleasantly surprised by the fish; it had the perfect amount of batter, complemented by a generous serving of cod. The batter was flavorful without being too heavy. Moreover, the fries were authentic British-style chips—thick and packed with potato. My girlfriend opted for the Shepherd's Pie, which was also quite tasty! The service was excellent. I love that the staff in each country pavilion are actually from those countries; it was so cool to be served by genuine English people. I had high hopes for the Rose Crown Dining Room, and it definitely lived up to them! I’m really glad I finally had the chance to dine here.
