Palermo Ii Delicatessen - San Francisco

Palermo is a sicilian style deli that serves the BEST sandwiches in north beach. a few regulars came by to say hello to the owner, so you know it's a well frequented local shop. the deli also has beer, italian colas, italian treat, snacks, cold cuts, cheese, dried pasta, and freshly salted cod (baccala). there's an outdoor seating area so you can enjoy your sandwich drink on a nice summer day.

Looks like an og place so take this with a pinch of salt..the ingredients are fresh and all but what kind of idea is it to cram 30 salamis between two loafs of bread for a lunch. eating this beast of a sandwich was a challenge in itself. despite my best efforts, the salami lump emulated the slipperiness of a wet soap and i ended up giving up half way through to avoid having a big yellow mustard stain on my shirt.

They actually have the best sandwiches in north beach. Owner is right there to make sure quality is not compromised and that explains the great service.

Avoid wasting time standing in a disorganized line at Molinaris where the staff is rude and they don't even take phone orders. The restaurant across the street serves Molinari factory products and is friendlier, with better tasting food in my opinion. After completing a 370-mile bike event this weekend, Palermo was my first stop for recovery. I had been dreaming of enjoying some spicy coppa for the last 120 miles of my ride. The Palermo special, with chips and sparkling water, is my favorite. Sit outside in the sun and watch the people pass by as the fan above the door spins lazily in the breeze. It's a dreamy experience!

I picked up my pal Dash Riprock and headed straight to our pal Evo Stromboli's house there on Vallejo street, and we walked down to the Palermo II Deli. I owed them lunch and asked where you want to go? Dash wanted to go to Molinari's Deli but Evo insisted on Palermo's, he said it's 10 time better...so off we went.The sandwiches were great!
