Orenchi Beyond - San Francisco

My only minor complaint is that when I ordered the tomato ramen, I didn't expect the cauliflower to be included. I'll ask them to leave it out next time. Overall, though, this place is a winner in my opinion. In my previous review from August 7, 2017, I praised Orenchi Beyond for their vegan ramen. I wrote that they really live up to the promise of serving delicious vegan ramen. Thank you for that! When I first saw their version, I was skeptical because it seemed to have a soy-based broth and didn't look creamy, unlike some vegan ramens from other restaurants. It also had eggplant, which isn’t my favorite vegetable (yes, I'm a picky vegan!). However, I've been enjoying ramen so much lately that I don't always want something rich and creamy, so this was a refreshing option. Plus, I was relieved to find that I could ask for the eggplant to be left out and still enjoy a bowl filled with other vegetables like cauliflower, tomatoes, and peppers. The noodles used were rice noodles, which I think was a smart choice. The broth was well-seasoned, and I appreciated the option to add garlic from a jar on the table. If you like it spicy (which I do), be cautious with the spicy paste, as I learned it contains fish. They do have some spices available on the table, or you can bring your own vegan hot sauce or chili pepper (I'm always open to suggestions!). Honestly, the broth is great even without added spice.

The restaurant offers a separate vegan menu featuring a variety of options, including vegan ramen, Adashi Tofu, and gyoza.

I received a completely vegan menu during my visit, and there were plenty of vegan options to choose from. I tried the spicy vegan ramen, which was enjoyable, though I found the beef topping a bit odd.

External and inner seats are available. They take reservations. Many vegan options. Ramen here is so tasteful and creative

This is one of our favorite Ramen spots! They have recently opened a full vegan menu, so there are significantly more options now! They make this soy miso which is drool. It's so good, if you're in the Mission/Castro area (or even if you're not), worth checking out! Updated from previous review on 2021-02-09
