Contribuiți la feedbackFor what? Thai food, lazy owner closed before 3:00 went to another Thai at mission and Francis on holiday until 22nd. June Thai owners should close and go back to Thailand
Everyone and his grandma complain how expensive San Francisco is. No wonder the hippies have disappeared into East Bay and beyond. Do you ask yourself this in contrast to New Yawk, where you can get a decent meal for under 5 dollars, when was the last time you had something tasty, fill and affordable for even under 10 dollars? Don't ask. Mae Krua is part of an experiment in Bernal Heights. Take an industrial kitchen, load a bundle of chefs (no waiting staff or sous kitchen or helpers), and give them a canvas to unleash their creativity, and voila, you have Mae Krua. You also have Jamaican and pickle/sandwich chefs in the same shop. The room is tiny. 3 or 4 tables divided among the 3 kitchens. So go during the non-rush hours, or like 80% of traffic, pick and eat before your favorite Netflix Show. Mae Krua is authentic. The chef is from South Thailand and knows how to multiply the task and spit each of the 10 dishes on the menu to the desired spice level. Tip: Go to medium, it is a happy place for those who like it less spicy and those who like it spicy. Ask for hot sauce and delicious lemongrass meat sauce to spoil the spices. What stands out is the pumpkin cure. The flavors bring Bangkok or Phuket or Pattaya Street Food to your range. While your mouth burns pleasantly, some fresh coconut sprays and saves the pulp for dessert. Then there are rice balls. We have two. It is a large, fried, doughy, ball of goodness that goes well with the lemongrass fish sauce. Be ready to wait, as a lonely cook can sometimes be buried by commands. This is not fast food, but slow food cooked with love. Although the cook is gracious and will bring your food to your table when you are a country. We tried the spring rolls with Tofu, and they were decent, not the stars. Everything is blazing compared to pumpkin. Next time we want to compare with chef Penang and green curries that I bet have great flavors. If you like soup, you can try Tom Kha or if you want something Carby, there is the classic pad Thai. The choice of meat is tofu for vegetarians and chicken for meat eaters. The best part is the price. We went a little overboard, but for 10 dollars a pop, 20 for a couple, you can satisfy a meal that will satisfy your authentic Thai desire.
Good idea and one of the pop-up staff was great. Unfortunately, the menu didn't catch us this day. But I loved the concept! Lively with some good food options.
I love this place it?s great! Clean, simple, delicious, authentic Thai food. This is a great place if you are looking for a quick light meal in the neighborhood.
