Contribuiți la feedbackOrdered from DoorDash around 2:48PM on a Monday, 10/23/21. Thankful they fulfilled my order cause they closed at 3PM that day. I picked it up and a nice Korean ajumeoni lady gave me my order at around 3pm. They were very quick! The ambiance of the place was Japanese- like booths. A little on the darker side but seems pretty homey-cozy-chill. AWESOME Lunch Bento Deals! Pretty BIG Portion! Chicken Teriyaki Bento. Comes with rice, side salad, miso soup, 3 pieces of california roll and WOW! Not sure if they gave me extra cause they were closing but the Tempura Pieces were: 1 shrimp, 2 green beans, 1 slice of carrot, sweet potato, and a piece of broccolli. I was only going to give this place a 3 star cause they make the tempura sauce, teriyaki and miso on the sweet side. I gave it a 4 star for how nice the lady was. She had a home-y grandma feeling vibe. I appreciate everyone's hard work! Happy Eat's :
The restaurant needs to update their hours of operation. According to Yelp, they are supposed to be open until 10pm on Sundays, but they were closed when we arrived at 8:00pm.
The rolls are excellent, the fish is very fresh, and everything tastes perfect. The lady is incredibly kind and helpful, making guests feel welcome. The cozy and warm atmosphere adds to the overall experience.
I was in search of some chicken teriyaki and unexpectedly stumbled upon this restaurant nearby. The prices have increased and I'm not entirely sure how much the lunch special costs, but I believe it's close to $20. Previous pictures of the menu showed it to be around $14, which seemed reasonable, but for the mediocre teriyaki, I'm unsure if it's worth the price. The lunch special includes miso soup, salad, and a side of rice, so it is quite a generous portion. The sushi is subpar and I wouldn't recommend it (although, the restaurant's name is teriyaki so sticking to the hot dishes is best). We ordered a spicy tuna roll, and it was the most peculiar version of spicy tuna I've ever tasted, definitely not recommended. I also tried the chicken and egg rice dish, which was decent - somewhat lacking in flavor but filling if you're in need of a quick meal. We also tried the tempura as it was recommended by someone, but it was underwhelming. It was doughy and soggy, unlike the crispy tempura we were hoping for. The person who recommended it claimed it was the best they've ever had, so maybe it was just an off day. The owner/waitress is friendly, but I find the prices to be a bit too high (two lunch specials amount to over $40). There have been instances where I've tried to place a to-go order during their opening hours, but found it difficult to reach them by phone. Due to the restaurant's location in a bustling part of Balboa, parking can be challenging during peak times, and the parking machines can be frustrating to use.
We were a little skeptical when we went in to the restaurant because there weren't many people on Saturday night. But we were pleasantly surprised by the taste of the food, value, and service! We will definitely go back there to try their katsu.
