The restaurant wasn't even a quarter full, with dinner at 5:00, but we were denied for my child and I to sit at a table of four next to each other, so I can help cut their food. They told us we could just sit two tables next to each other. Okay, so we sat where they put us, no problem. However, as we eat, there was a white party of two that offered the table for four, followed by two more white pairs that were better treated, and were offered the table again for four. When I called it to the waitress because she came physically to move my child's chair to sneak her in so that she can sit someone else behind her, she said she was not racist and if we wanted to go to dinner right now. Then the nerve had to say it was because she saved the tables for reservations. I was hurt that, regardless of how good I dress, how hard I work to show my little girl to other cultures and foods, we can't be treated fairly, and I'm the one who needs to be measured to not make a scene, and I'm not because my child is watching my reactions and learning from me. I have tipped, not for the racist experience of the women who work here, but because as a woman of color I do not want others to be treated as we were, I live in the area and I can keep my head up when I see them back in the street. The food was just not good enough to ever come back. It wasn't one here, but it certainly taught me that they never earned my money again.
Literally nothing better on the planet than good thai food, and this was GREAT thai food!! the pad thai was everything you could ever want or need or hope for, and i would absolutely recommend it. they also have tons of incredible and unique cocktails, including the thai-phoon which was a spiked thai tea. i loved it here! the vibe inside is so cute, the service was fast, and the food was truly incredible and delicious. highly recommend!
Just go. Food: I?m not sure what they do to the spring rolls, but they are without a doubt the best spring rolls I?ve tasted. Crunchy, sweet and savory. Untraditionally served with lettuce, sprigs of mint and cilantro, and a delicious sauce I couldn?t help drizzling on the corn cakes. The greens and the vegetables cooked perfectly and not overdone. I recommend the Thai-phoon, a Thai iced tea cocktail with coconut milk that doesn?t taste very alcoholic. Service: Decent. Space: Trendy and spacious. The outside patio is unheated. The restaurant was only 20% full at 7:30, but filled out to about 50% by 8:30 pm.
Based on the reservation availability we thought it would not fill up, and boy were we wrong. Staff seems short staffed especially to handle large groups that seemed to regularly fill the place up. Feedback we?d share with the staff is if there are more than a handful of 4 top tables open and we ask for one and are a party of 2, it?s because we like to eat and not have a crowded table. Unfortunately that?s what set the mood for us and set the stage for everything so ordered less than our typical serving sizes. Over all the food was decent, but not enough to bring us back after we layer on the service.
The food was good and the Covid restrictions that were set felt reassuring. My only minor wish was that there would be a little more portion servings on the plate. I just felt like the plate was bigger than the actual size of the serving. The amount of shrimp was fine maybe a little more noodles would be my only suggestion. Overall it's a nice place to visit when in the city.
