Mesa Del Conde

We visited here recently during a road trip across the region. We found this place after a recommendation from the Lonely Planet guide suggested we stop at the town to see the castle and central square (both were beautiful, however we didn't do the tour of the castle as it was closed). The restaurant is quaint, very homely and staff were very welcoming and polite, being very tolerable of our poor attempts at Spanish. The food was good, portions were large and it was tasty. I had a stew, the meat was a little tough in places but overall quite mouthwatering and tender. Would recommend giving this place a go, stop and have a look at the town and the local castle, walk around and enjoy!

En route to Portugal a stopover in this unspoiled fortified attractive village. Although mentioned and advertised elswhere, there was no Menu del Dia nor a week end menu available. Had to choose A la Carte . First choice was unavailable so opted for Leg of lamb on the bone with salad and fried potatoes. A lot of bone and relatively little meat. The simplest salad I have ever seen in Spain. Just iceberg lettuce with a quartered tomato on top and a little dressing. For €10.60 this was expensive bearing in mind that in other Spanish restaurants you can have an All in evening dinner for around €12. . After staying the night the breakfast was also an extremely simple affair. Literally 1 piece of dry toast, a piece of Magdalena cake and some jam coffee. Wines were resonably priced and staff friendly. On balance, cannot recommend.

It's about 20 km from the Siega Verde Archaelogical Site and worth the stop. The dining room was cosy, and the service excellent and fast. We paid a little over €30 for a salad, a cuttlefish dish, a cheesecake, a glass of wine and a daily special menu.
