Contribuiți la feedbackI just had to show some love for my favorite place to get pizza. Living down the street, I always prefer to get my pepperoni pizza from here. Today I wanted some change and Chef Frank really took his time to make a fantastic, unique and absolutely delicious pizza for me. I decided I’d check out the bar while I wait for the pie and the bartender was great also. Such an amazing place to appreciate with a welcoming atmosphere. Thanks again Chef, this really was the best part of my long day. : Steph
This place is so good!! Frank is the freakin best. Amazingly talented chef and great guy to chat with. This was one our favorite places to get a bite to eat in San Diego. Highly recommend!
This is my new favorite place to frequent. Amazing food and wonderful service. I recommend the meatballs wholeheartedly.
It’s nice to have a a store eatery combo in East Village offering Italian fresh pastas, sauces, specialty ingredients, snacks, alcohol the whole gamut (aside from fresh veggies meats). There is also a hot foods section selling prepared items such as meatballs, sandwiches, pastas, and tri tip on certain days of the week. It’s a one stop shop for your needs to make or plate an Italian meal, down to the wine. RoVino The Foodery also includes a pastry gelato shop, to the far left of the entrance. There’s an array of pastry, desserts, and gelato for any sweet tooth craving. If you can’t decide on a single flavor, they also have gelato flights.. I had gotten a pint of Madagascar Vanilla gelato to go before; service was great and the gelato was decent. My favorite part of RoVino The Foodery is their bar and happy hour. The bar is nestled in the right corner of the shop and they’re open limited hours: 3pm Close (9pm). My first time here for happy hour, it was full every table and bar seat was taken. I had gone back another time and it was pretty quiet. Both were weekend days, so I guess you never know if you get a table until you get there as they have limited seating due to the size of the bar area. I usually get the Polpette (meatballs) as they’re pretty good, especially if you just want a to go order to take home and add some pasta for a quick meal. Although usually good, it will vary as there are times I got them and they were smaller and not as tasty as other times. I guess it just depends on who makes them? Some consistency would be good. I’d skip the fried artichoke hearts they’re bland and not anything like the fried artichokes in Italy. From the handful of times I’ve been to the bar, service varies based on who is staffed at the bar. There were a couple of times where someone from the hot foods section came over to take my order for wine and appetizers, since no one was specifically stationed at the bar at the time. Most of the times I’ve been there, Jeremy has been bartending and he’s awesome. I’ve had good conversations and great service every time Jeremy tends bar. The food (appetizer) options for the bar area are small bites such as meatballs, fried artichoke hearts, charcuterie board, etc. it’s from the foods that they sell in the shop or at the hot food station. Aside from the glasses of wine available at the bar, you can opt to buy any bottle the shop sells and enjoy that at the bar area (no corkage fee). It’s nice to have a place like this in East Village.
The pastry chef was trying out a new bread pudding and we were lucky enough to be asked to taste it. It was incredibly delicious. The store has a unique vibe and it was one of the highlights of our trip to San Diego.
