Azuki Sushi - San Diego

I came here for a friend’s birthday and the experience was amazing. Didn’t know there was a back seating area, which looks amazing and perfect for special occasions. The sushi was incredible I can’t decide if I liked the salmon roe or the eel more! Hoping to come back and try the San Diego local uni!!!Food: 5/5

Quite disappointing. The place has zero appeal and is in dire need of a reno. The music they were playing is pop. The sushi offerings are no different from a regular place, not this supposed to be higher scale place. The tempura bowl was so stingy 2/3 of it was rice.And mini shrimps at that.

The service and ambience were good music was a touch loud. We ordered the Oysters, Wagyu roll, the R U kidding me roll, some Nigri, and drinks. The oysters did not taste fresh one had a flavor so rotten my partner nearly gagged. Skip the oysters. The Wagyu roll has an overwhelming taste of sesame oil. R U Kidding me roll was good overhyped in my opinion. The Nigri were good and drinks weren't anything special. Overall an okay experience.

I ordered the Pork Dumplings, Hamachi Kama, Shiitake Miso Soup, Azuki Salad, Kakuni, Tempura, and Sashimi platter. Everything was super good. I normally don’t like sushi, but the sashimi melted in my mouth, tasted so delicious and fresh. No fishy taste at all. My favorite was the smoked albacore it was the most succulent mouth watering thing I’ve ever tasted.Here’s my ratings for all the food I tasted. Amazing quality fish! If you are a sashimi lover like myself you should absolutely make a stop at Azuki. Their chirashi bowl had some of the highest quality fish I’ve had in a long time. That paired with the excellent service and flavorful small plate items makes me excited to visit here again!Vegetarian options: Very few vegetarian options as this is primarily a sushi restaurant specializing in high quality raw fish.Kid-friendliness: No children’s menu and I would generally avoid bringing children here as it is a more adult atmosphere.Parking: Parking is limited to street parking with some paid lots within a short walking distance (less than 5 minute walk).
