Very nice restaurant with home cooking, very clean, we had hamburger with French kartoffel and an orange juice. the atmosphere is very quiet and relaxing.
We have just revised our favorite lunch spot in san cristobal and it is better than ever. this is one of the cleanest food facilities in chiapas (which counts much on a place of frequent food-related diseases). juices are fresh, tortas are delicious,...and the place is immaculate! owns of a local family that deserves their business. the prices are perfect and everything is delicious! vegetarian torta is actually vegan. large space for families, (they have a high chair)!
In a very tourist street this is a very quiet cheap restaurant, which is usually visited by Mexicans. they serve fresh juices, limonada, cold and hot chocolate and a “Americano” that is actually a strong and good quadruple sized expresso. food, they serve the usuak Mexican favorites (vegetarian options...available,) but are specialized in hamburger and tortas with homemade fries try the torta milanese de res con queso (a very thin verge or shining, salat, tomaten, avocado and cheese in a huge roll). sauce they show everything from tomato ketchup to an evil green homemade salsa.
(Info about the food in a moment. But first... I had read about this place in my Lonely Planet guidebook but didn 't find it here on TripAdvisor because the listing here is titled Ana Banana instead of (as in LP and on the front...entrance/window , there 's no space: it 's Anabanana. (A photo on Google Street View shows that. Once I found it here on TA, I noticed that TA 's map shows it just south of Mazariegos... it 's actually two plus blocks farther south, on the west side between Ninos Heroes and Hermanos Dominguez. Google Maps shows the address as Manuel Hidalgo 11. Anyway, it 's worth a hunt... The menu is four pages of densely packed handwriting. It starts with their jugos (juices , which LP recommended. I had the carrot juice... it was absolutely delicious and tasted like a huge glass of fresh carrots. (It was worth 30 pesos! LP also recommended their tortas (sandwiches . The menu showed lots of them, so I chose the Super Ana Banana (with a space... . For 50 pesos, you get the sandwich; for an extra 10, you get papas fritas (french fries too. The hamburgers that the people at the next table got didn 't look especially big to me, so I decided to have the fries too. What a huge amount of food! I 'll include a photo. The sandwich had a lot of ingredients: cheese, ham, bacon, avocado, tomatoes, and probably more. It was delicious, but I couldn 't eat it all. I wish this restaurant had been a few kilometers farther from my hotel so I could walk off some of the food! : This little restaurant has six or seven tables crammed in. When I left before 6 PM, almost every table was filled. So I suggest coming here off hours, like 5 PM.
