Only about 15-20 tables and it keeps the experience very personal. Was immediately greeted at the door and sitting with my reservation. The waiter has explained the menu, daily specialties, the offer of Prix Fixe and the selection of wines. This started with a bottle of Grand Cru Riesling, Escargot, Arugula Salad, Watermelon salad, mussels and some frits. I had to try something of everything because it was very recommended. She also recommended that the main court orders at the same time, so that they all foods at tempo. I appreciate how you don't feel rushed and were able to enjoy any course. Was able to enjoy all appetizers over a glass of wine. Both salads were very light and refreshing. The shells were probably my favorite. They were served in a mixture of basque sauce and Marinieres. It was a nice mix for wine, shallots, garlic with some heat of pepper, chili and pepper. The escargot was a near 2nd, as it was served in a very tasteful butter sauce. All appetizers were well distributed and beautifully presented. For the main dishes, the lobster, Prix Fixe (lamb, scalloped potatoes, mixed vegetables), rabbit had two-way (especially daily). The timing of food was perfect, how much time had to enjoy the appetizers with some wine. All were nicely plated. I can't say what my favorite was because everyone was really good. I had the lamb as there are limited options for lamb in San Antonio. It was perfectly cooked by juicy and tasteful without the playful taste. The lobster was beautiful large and fleshy portions that were slightly baked. I couldn't try the rabbit, but they said it was very good. It must have been good as they forgot to share the table. For Desserts the Crème brulee, Belgian waffle and floating island had. All were good shares to share. The crème brulee had beautiful, hard caramelized top with a light, fluffy Custard bottom. The Belgian waffle was my favorite as he had a beautiful balance of the dough, which was covered with the sweetness of chocolate, sugar, cream and strawberries. The floating island was a delicious Meringue served on the top of the Custard sauce. This place was highly recommended and glad I listened. From setting, service, food and desserts it was a great experience and I recommend the next person.
The food is absolutely amazing!!! We'll go back tomorrow! I want to try everything and the service was also great!! Definitely stop here, you will not be disappointed! And the best fries I've ever had!!
Food was amazing, mussels, ham and cheese crepe, Fritze with real curry sauce!!!! It brought me back to Brussels
Only an all-round GREAT place to have a wonderful meal and are served by first-class staff. Nothing stuffy or affected in this place at all... just delicious food, great Belgian beers... also waiting for DRAFT... and great times! Go here and not some pretentious cafe/Bistro/trattoria from a faceless mega corp. or some trendy chef with just a first name that named the resto 'beet-root' or 'the foam collectiv'.
Very lively restaurant, the manager was extremely attentive and helpful. the mussels are amazing, i would recommend the mariniere over the provencale broth. we also had the steak au poivre and onglet avec frites...... i recommend the onglet.....oh my goodness so flavorful. a great restaurant and we will come back when we are in san antonio again. a little on the pricey side to make a regular visit if we were living in the city
