Don Jose Mexican Cafe - San Antonio

I was very satisfied with my order! The Menudo was delicious, and the Fiesta Plate had great flavor. The Carne Guisada was tender and tasty. However, the Sweet Iced Tea could use a bit more sweetness.

The food was dry and unappetizing. The green salsa had no flavor at all, while the red salsa had a strange chemical taste that was quite off-putting. The Chicharron Egg (114) was also dry and lacked any seasoning. The Salchicha Ranchera tacos (119) were simply terrible. I don't remember ordering from here in the past, but I certainly won't be coming back again.

The breakfast tacos are great, but you can't choose between chicken or beef for the caldo de pollo or res. The last time I opted for the beef, and all I got was a chunk of meat and some broth—there were no veggies included at all. I ended up having to add my own.

The 106. Menudo needed flavor. Tasted like watery oil and the meat had too much fat on it. The 21. Mexican Plate was ok but the taco was soggy. I asked for Carne Guisada and they gave me two pieces of meat and a splash of sauce. Not worth the extra charge.

I discovered this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. I love the variety of dishes and the diverse menu options. The food is delicious, the service is quick, and the prices are fantastic. This place has quickly become one of my favorite stops whenever I'm in town. I highly recommend it!
