Really good. came here as it was near our hotel to discover that its really a jewel of a place. enjoy a few cookies and gravy with fried chicken. all others also had a large plate of food that can be summarized as a jummy. did not get the root beer, but did not regret how many said it was really good there.
As a native I have a large heart for schilo’s german, the oldest restaurant in san antonio. since 1917 in the inner city of sa. the midday plates and sandwiches are great. sometimes I go for a ruby sandwich, carving, sausage or meat loaf. my favorite is the split pea suppe and homemade super delicious root beer (the best ever.) the staff and server are very friendly. when they are in the city, they try silo’s. You'll be happy you did it.
Schilo is absolutely amazing! they may have to wait a bit to be seated, but it is worth definitiw. we sat at the bar and our waiter was very friendly and gave us many information about the restaurant and san antonio. everything from our brezels with beer cheese, schnitzel and burger was delicious. many of their things are made home as well as their ranch and hot sniff and make sure to get a cup of root beer (which is also made home)! my partner and I already plan a day trip to san antonio to eat here.
Food was very good. The Ruben was a perfect amount of corn beef and sauerkraut. Although not plentiful it did the trick. The bacon wrapped krautdog was also very good. Tried a piece of cheesecake and it did not disappoint. There was a woman who really kept the staff on thier toes. The server was good and her last day so kudos to her for not slacking.
