Gasthof zum Noisternig - Salzburg

My wife, daughter (11) and I were here yesterday. It's just a few blocks from where we stay outside the beaten tourist route! While the locals easily discovered us as tourists, they were all smiling as we entered. A waitress showed us a table in a cozy back dining room. And cozy is the word here as if you are in someone's house, but they have a bar in the front room! Everything is clean and warm. The waitress brought us menus and apologised that they were only in German. Her English was pretty good, but she was humble about how we asked if she could help us with our selection. To make it easier for them, we asked if she could show us the pig selection, and then a chicken for our daughter. I had a pork sandwich, my wife had a carving and my daughter a baked chicken stable. All were delicious and perfectly cooked. The pig was also served with a cranberry dressing and salad. Also the salads, green and potato, were fantastic! After that we were pretty full, but we thought we could share a dessert, so we ordered a slice of apricot cake. This came warm, with a help a fresh whipped cream. Excellent and not overly sweet as you can find in some restaurants. You can say that this was done with real, fresh ingredients. All in all, this was a good choice for a real house cooked Austrian meal, as a family could enjoy in the evening! Oh, and the price was the greatest, most beautiful surprise of all! A winner!

Das Essen in diesem Restaurant war wirklich ausgezeichnet, reichlich und der Service äußerst freundlich. Wir haben uns kulinarisch bestens versorgt gefühlt! Enttäuschend war jedoch für mich die Tatsache, dass es sich anscheinend um ein Herrenlokal handelt, da es viermal mehr männliche als weibliche Gäste gab. Dies erklärt wohl, warum ich einen Großteil meiner wertvollen Zeit in der Schlange vor der einzigen Damentoilette verbringen musste, während die Herren die Wahl zwischen zwei separaten Räumen hatten. Das Gefühl, hier als weiblicher Gast weniger gesehen zu werden, bleibt bestehen. Es wäre wünschenswert, wenn das Verhältnis der Toilettenräume gerechter gestaltet werden würde, um Engpässe zu vermeiden.

Tolles Restaurant mit gemütlicher Atmosphäre und leckerem Essen! Das Personal ist sehr freundlich! Auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert!

Ausgezeichnete Küche, freundliches und kompetentes Personal, sehr empfehlenswert.

So machen! Gulasch sehr zart, verfeinert mit Lorbeerblättern, so wie ich es auch mache : dazu selbstgemachte Spätzle, ein Gedicht. Kaiserschmarrn: Puh das war jetzt n Bombe mein Kollege.
