June's Southern Table - Salt Lake City

I ordered the biscuits and gravy and the crab soup. The crab soup is really nice with a delicate flavor that doesn't overpower the crab. Reminiscent of she crab stew with a hint of sherry. Delicious. My meal also came with two adorable pieces of cornbread (made in leaf molds) and a large fresh roll. I'm knocking off two stars because while the gravy was a delightful Cajun-esque take on milk gravy, the biscuits were at least a day old. No tenderness to be found, very crunchy like they were stale and reheated or twice cooked to the point of becoming very hard. I'm disappointed, but I'll probably just try a different dish in the future.

I ordered from June's Southern Table for lunch today and I was not disappointed! Tasty Cajun food! I was excited to order the crawfish bisque! I most definitely recommend this! A flavor explosion from the first bite. There is a nice and spicy kick to it, but it was also buttery and smooth with a satisfying amount of crawfish. I love when a simple meal has so much flavor! The chicken and sausage gumbo is delicious and worth a try, but it didn't blow me away in the same way the crawfish bisque did. I think the bisque was such a flavor bomb that the gumbo seemed a little weak in comparison. I may have liked it better if the gumbo was served separate from the rice instead of it coming in the same container. The rice soaked up all of the liquid. I will definitely order from this restaurant again in the future!

O.M.G. I am a Southerner. 5th Generation. What I miss most about the south, besides the friendly people is the food. We have THE best food in the world. June's did not disappoint. I swear, on my first bite I had tears in my eyes. Unbelievable and authentic. The gumbo was out of this world and the fried catfish melted in my mouth. And you get cornpones in the shape of leaves!! Her menu is extensive. I invite you to taste the south. This will be my go to for everything.

Standard Cajun recipes, done competently. That's not something you could find around this area, so I'm glad this place exists. No hipster nonsense, just authentic normal food. They're take out only which is unlikely to change and note that they close fairly early.

Order for delivery and I must say the food was delicious. I had the chicken and sausage gumbo and the shrimp po'boy. Both were sooo tasty. Highly recommend checking this place out.
