It served as a family-friendly club where everyone could enjoy themselves throughout the year, especially during the summer months. Unfortunately, the clubhouse burned down years ago, leaving only the large stone fireplace and an empty pool behind. We first discovered this place in the early 1980s and came here to appreciate the land. At some point, a house called Gracey's, which was part of the surrounding property that once belonged to the Penguin Club, also caught fire. This house held many memories for the family that lived there. This all occurred around 1984, after the Penguin Club had already been destroyed. It used to be so picturesque here, with deer roaming and the occasional fox, all so close to I-81. If you visit now, you would never guess that this land has suffered from two devastating fires. Once a tranquil haven, it is now lined with houses side by side, and Gracey's has become just a memory.
All I can say about this place is that there seem to be some locals who think we're up to no good. With dollar beers, affordable drinks, and the chilly reception from the residents... what more could you want? Just stop by for a big TV and a friendly greeting in Salem.
