Hawaiian Time - Salem

The Mauna Loa chicken at this restaurant is absolutely delicious. The chicken is tender and the sauce is perfect. The Mac salad is surprisingly flavorful, with a hint of black pepper that really elevates it. I will definitely be coming back again. The dining area is spacious and there is friendly service. The only regret is that I didn't order more, haha.

The food is always delicious, but I find it frustrating that this restaurant only serves chicken every time I visit. Only 1/3 of the menu offers variety, with no beef or pork options, and only 2 chicken dishes available. I wish they would consider adding more diversity to their menu, such as beef options. Hopefully, they will have it next time.

I would like to highly praise Maria, the waitress at the 23rd location in Salem. I visited to place a breakfast order and when I arrived, there was a line of about 9 people. Although it seemed like a lot of people to handle, Maria managed it perfectly! I was served in less than 5 minutes, even during the busy lunch hour. While waiting for my order, I noticed Maria greeting each customer with a smile and engaging them in conversation. Her excellent service continued even after I placed my order. She is a remarkable young lady and both she and her manager should be proud of her exceptional work.

That was my first time here. I noticed that they don't wear bark like most other Hawaiian restaurants I was. the beside dishes they offer are already part of the main dishes ( rice, salat and makkaroni), so that was surprising. I had ordered a mixed plate (chicken and pig) but it turned out that they ran out of pork. I was happy with the taste. condiment flake and the counter on which they were located were sticky and dirty looking. When I finished eating, they had at least wiped the counter.

I ordered the Huli Huli Chicken yesterday and it’s great! The only “complain” I have is that there’s no other sides besides the Mac Salad and the chicken because the rice portion is a lot. I recommend that if you’re a small eater, you should share one regular sized plate with another person because that’s what I did and I’m already full! Besides the food, the “waiting” part took a long time- maybe because there’s lots of people buying from there. In summary, I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to eat big portions of rice if they’re there!
