There, you'll find fantastic sushi restaurants tailored to tourists, easily located through a quick search on Google. However, I believe that the concept of authenticity isn’t as paramount as it used to be. Many talented sushi chefs today aim to reinterpret the art of sushi while maintaining its integrity. The traditional flavors that some may cherish might not resonate with the tastes of the newer generation, which could risk the evolution of sushi over time. That’s why I value creativity in sushi-making; it preserves tradition while introducing exciting new flavors that enhance the dining experience. Originating from California, USA, I came across Mika Sushi Bar and was immediately drawn to its name. I expected a sushi bar atmosphere, which typically embodies Japanese design elements, enriching the overall dining experience. Located in Quebec, Canada, Mika Sushi Bar is quite a distance from home, but it met all my criteria, so I planned a visit during a business trip to New York. I took the opportunity to drive across the border to Quebec. Upon arriving at Mika Sushi Bar, I was delighted by the atmosphere. The restaurant was lively but not overcrowded; all tables and bar stools were occupied, yet it didn’t feel cramped or uncomfortable. The temperature was just right, and the decor was on point. And let’s not forget about the sushi—the chef showcased remarkable creativity, skillfully using a variety of ingredients in his sushi preparations. The different types of seaweed wraps, with their unique colors and textures, complemented the seafood's flavors wonderfully. While it may not be feasible for everyone to travel such a distance to enjoy Mika Sushi Bar, I highly recommend it. If you have the chance, make it a destination for an extraordinary sushi dinner, whether you're with a partner, family, friends, or even flying solo like I did!

I've tried both terrible sushi from the grocery store and some truly amazing sushi that I've savored, and this was just okay. I was disappointed that our sushi boat didn't include many specialty options. The soy sauce was quite bland. On the positive side, the service was friendly and efficient, and the restaurant was clean and modern with a romantic, chic ambiance. Despite the many positives, I left feeling full but not particularly impressed. Perhaps it's just that my expectations were set high from past experiences with excellent sushi. I think the restaurant could be a great option for takeout to enjoy at home. Enjoy your visit!

Incredible! Earlier this week, I visited their other sushi bar, loved it, and felt I had to try their original location. Once again, the food was outstanding. I enjoyed all my usual favorites, including wonton soup, a spider roll with soft-shell crab, and spring rolls. The owner was gracious enough to recommend a few dishes that were truly delicious: tuna tartare with a hint of spice, scallops, and an amazing salmon and tuna fried roll. My girlfriend and I arrived hungry and left feeling satisfied and happy. I noticed other customers ordering pizza sushi, which looked intriguing (I’ll definitely try that next time), and someone else had a giant sushi boat that had great presentation and was filled with all the sushi I love—maybe I’ll treat myself to that for my birthday. I highly recommend giving it a try; they speak English, French, and more. I’ve bookmarked this place because I will definitely be returning!
