We first tried the restaurants at the colle on the Swiss side, but they did not seem to have an appetite to serve customers, and the terrace didn't have much of a view. So we continued on, and saw this place: Great terrace overlooking the colle and travellers up and down: good view on the hussle and bustle of the bikers and the cyclists. The coffee was served with a smile, which made us order another one. And come back on our way back home.
Simple sandwiches and beers served by a waiter who could pretty much care less. Unfortunately, this is the last stop on the Italian side of the pass very disappointed. They have a captive audience and could have done so much better
We went up from Bourg St Pierre to have dinner there and had an overall pleasant experience. The food is simple but pretty good and healthy, the wine list is also short but diverse enough and the overall, slightly old-fashioned atmosphere, very pleasant when the fog and cold are surrounding the house. Our waiter was efficient but service in general was hyper fast... really almost no time to breath: appetizer, starter, main, coffee in 40 minutes!? Come on... there is a difference between efficience and rush!! Not cheap but quite ok given the location.
Stayed a few nights at the hotel over a 2 week period while walking in the area. Enjoyed eating in the restaurant, very good food produced with good service and friendly staff.
I could not find this hotel because the name is incorrect it is called Albergo Italia, and is located at the summit of the Grand St Bernard, which is about 14 kilometres from St Rhemy en Bosses. Very nice room, and a wonderful place for a good nights sleep, and a good meal beforehand.
