We had a warm welcome from the proprietor, even though we were late back from our walk. We strated with an amuse bouche, mini courgette tart, and plenty of bread and butter. The menu features local produce, for example locally produced oils and wine, as well as regional specialities. We ate from the main menu, two courses 19 euros, all excellent, the rillete de salmon, goats cheese salad, entree were beautifully presented and flavoured, the vegetarian main options were omelette or a truffade. The mains chosen were veal or cabillaud on a bed of lentils, delicious sauce and request such as no chorizo on the cabillaud did not cause a problem indeed they replaced it with some courgette. So delighted to see a vegetarian option actually specifically offered. The local St Pourcain wine seemed reasonably priced at 21 euros. We finished with a plate of mini deserts to share and coffees all round. 110 euros exc tip good value for four of us, at such a good quality. I haven't yet mentioned the restaurant itself, which apparently had been fully renovated two years ago, to make the most of the setting in an old schoolhouse. Plenty of lovely touches, old photographs of the pupils across many years, and maps etc, don't want to give too much away but this delightful setting only complemented our meal. Highly recommend and will be back!
This was a school, with many memories, well renovated into a restaurant, wood tables, hearty food and friendly staff
Apparently the owners are new. This a Clean simple place with local products and menu. They took extra care to add to the green salad a local seasonal wild herb ,for extra taste.I tasted beer from local brewery which was excellent Very Kid friendly , they charge less for the kid's although portions remain the same.Very honest place indeed
Products are of quality. However on the dishes we took:-andouillette, served with lentils and potatoes! a little salad instead of lentils (or potatoes) would have been less heavy. -side of the hiker: a little light in quantity.-gâteau à l'orange excellentl accueil est courteois. However, we were invited to eat outside because of the presence of our dog. which can be understood, but that passes medium well when you are the only customers.
Simple and tasty truffle formulas and snacks. discrete and pleasant service on a shaded terrace.
