Contribuiți la feedbackCan I just start off with how cute this place is??? My husband lived in Germany for 10 years, so whenever we go to a German restaurant, we have high standards. This place is by far my favorite. It's very large inside with your typical German wall art, wine glasses and dish-ware. I felt like I was inside my in laws house. From the waitstaff to the promptness and quality of food, you can't go wrong. My husband ordered the Wiener schnitzel and I got the zigeunerbraten (perfectly tender . Can I add they do not go light on your portions??? The schnitzel was the size of your head and combined with your sides, you definitely have your next meal already planned with your leftovers. And MAN was it good?! The zigeuner sauce had a great kick to it, my husband ended up getting a side of it for his schnitzel. I ordered their potato salad as a side while my husband ordered potatoes that were roasted, both of us ordered a side of spaetzle. Their wine is decently priced and had a good choice of beers to choose from (and happy hour along with an early bird special! . I am sad it took me this long to visit, but will go again often when we need a little taste of Germany and Austria!!!
Rare Ethnic Food 5 Viennese cuisine. The food serve similar to German cuisine due to the country next to each other. We know about this restaurant when we were at a casual conversation with Michele D. husband. He mention to us this hidden location that serve a good similar German food. We were here for their early bird special. The special is a good deal for this restaurant. They have seven items to choose from. It come with a choice of salad or soup. I have the Sauerbraten and my wife has the Pork Weiner Schnitzel. I like me Sauerbraten. This is pork tenderloin in wine sauce. It come with red cabbage and the Spaetzle. The red cabbage is like pickle veggie. The Spaetzle is like starch short noodle. My appetizer is the tomato soup. A bit sour for me but it is good after add pepper and salt. The ambient is very nice. I like it old school represent the country of the cuisine. Kuku clock, bear ceramic cup, the flag. The service is very good. I love this mom and pop shop. I will be back.
We were invited here a month ago by a friend who had been coming here for years; he seemed to know everyone. Coming from a German family in Pennsylvania I was excited to check out some of the German Austrian Eastern European food St. Pete had to offer. We started with the Breaded Fried Swiss Cheese $7.90) it was two decent sized triangles of Swiss cheese, breaded, deep fried and golden brown. While it was crisp and not greasy; it really lacked any flavor. A nuttier Swiss might add to the flavor. The dipping sauce with it listed as homemade tarter sauce adding nothing to the dish. For our entree my husband tried the Sauerbraten $18.90) beef loin marinated 5 days in red wine, red wine vinegar and spices, served with bread dumpling, spaetzle and red cabbage. Really an amazing dish; everything in it was on par with what I grew up with. Good flavorful marinate, the beef was tender, the bread dumplings and spaetzle had wonderful texture and the red cabbage was a wonderful contrast. I had the Beef Stroganoff $19.90) filet tips done in classic red wine sauce with finely chopped dill pickles, dijon mustard and touch of sour cream; served with spaetzle was less successful. The beef a little tough, the sauce was much heavier in red wine than any other flavor, it was hard to find the dill pickle or hint of its flavor or the mustard. One of the options with an entree was a cucumber salad it was billed as cucumber, sour cream and dill ... pretty much what I was used to. However, what came out was sliced cucumber, topped with sour cream and a little dill. Truthfully, it looked and tasted a lot like the homemade tarter sauce on the fried cheese. The good news is the staff is warm and friendly ...the place is really cute too. We heard the owner was retiring and another German family was taking over the business. The new owner was actually there checking things out in the kitchen the night we were there. It was good but not great, hopefully they can take it to the next level.
I lived in Germany for 9 years of my life and I have German family members who cook German meals regularly. Cafe Vienna has given me the most Authentic German food I have ever had here in the United States. If you are looking for true German/Austrian cuisine, look no further than this establishment. I ate the Wiener Schnitzel and it was perfection. The veal was delicious and the breading was expertly added. Many places have their breading slide off the meat, not Cafe Vienna's. The spaetzle and potatoes were also very good! My pro-tip for those who like spicy food: add their Zigeuner sauce. It provides a nice little kick.
Went here a couple weeks back for dinner and a very nice experience. My friend I came in half an hour before they closing and received excellent service without feeling rushed at all. The owners and their friends were at the bar socializing and it made it feel very friendly and family like hearing their german tales, some in german, and their laughter. So we both had to get a German Beer, served in a nice big stein. Thank you. They serve Spaten, either Dunkel, Lager or Pilsner as well as Franziskaner Weissbier Each meal comes with an interesting salad topped with beets, beans, cabbage and a sour cream dressing.Really good and different. For dinner I had the pork schnitzel 9$17.90 with a side of jaeger sauce offered by our helpful server-Thank you! served with lyonnais potatoes and mixed vegis. The schnitzle was perfectly done. Cooked to a nice crisp without being overcooked or tough. The potatoes were delicious too. I don't know what they do to them to make them so good but wow! Friend had the Jaeger Schnitzle with spaetzle and it was very good as well $17.90 as well Perfectly made, the spaetzle was so good with the jaeger sauce. The decor here is very old fashiohned. Very 80's with mauve and green but it's very clean and well kept. Felt like having dinner at my german grandmothers house, well without the yelling! THe service was spot on, the owners were super friendly and I'd be more then glad to try this establishment again!
