Contribuiți la feedbackThat was a great place! That was perfect. Had a guys night out with my family and they wanted dive bar food beer, burgers, and wings. I had been to The Nook before late nite, and it really hit the spot, but was it as good as I remembered? YES, in fact better as not only were the burger and fries delicious but the wings and hot dogs as well! Ambiance: vintage, establishment, dive type feel, crowded and lively both times I went. Think Al 's Breakfast but more spacious. Service: pretty quick, nice folks. Of course should mention that Guy Fieri has been here and has an item on the menu. But this place 's real merit is in all the happy customers it 's served for over 80 years. From off the website: The Nook has been a part of the St. Paul neighborhood scene since 1938. Folklore has that the location was once a horse barn and then a gas station before it was Wally 's Nook, The Nook, Mickey 's Nook, and finally, Casper 's Runyon 's Nook. Tips their Juicy Lucy is a delicious novelty, but classic cheese on top burger is the way to go #justsaying #lovemycheeseburger Consider the wings as a shared appetizer. The house made buffalo sauce is fantastic, albeit not that spicy. They have a bottle of sriracha you can ask for Street parking only is this the best burger in the MSP area? Tough call but this place does so many things well ... if you 're considering dining out here, good choice!!
Asked my friend where to eat near MSP, and the places he named weren 't all that near. So finally I gave him a few choices and Nook was #1 in both our books. First off, service was fairly frequent and friendly. Water kept flowing. Food felt like it was delayed a bit but not as bad as the mad crush of people on a Saturday night would have suggested. There also appeared to be a bit of a waiting crowd when we walked in, but the front staff suggested we look downstairs and sure enough, we found a table open. Now, I won 't go into the details about the whole place. You can see other people 's photos. I would have taken a bunch but my friend was there. The most interesting part about is all the dollar bills you wanna just grab and take with you. (I wonder if people actually do that I imagine some must? Is there video to stop them? The mind puzzles. The second most interesting part is the fact that downstairs starts as a bowling alley, and you have to walk around that to sit. If I had more time, I wonder if the bowling is free (assuming you eat there and up to waiting for a lane to open up, or if you actually do pay by the frame, or what. It really felt like I was in a college lounge. (Upstairs is a MUCH more normal bar atmosphere than downstairs, by the way. If that matters to you. Anyway, since all that stood out, the food kinda stands back a bit. Nook focuses on burgers, and I found mine OK but not special. The burger is made with excellent meat and has great flavor, but it 's thin and so it overcooked between the grill (I asked for rare and the table (it was medium well by the time I took a bite . The toppings were kinda sloppy. I asked for avocado, a few slices were piled on the burger and I had to spread them out, and then I found more slices on the plate. Not wanting for portion, but the distribution was off like they just throw the toppings on instead of placing them carefully. Ya know, to keep service moving. I did enjoy the cheese curds, though I dispute they 're the best ever definitely have had better in Wisconsin (A.J. Bomber 's in Milwaukee is the best by far . But I liked the sweet honey bacon variety here, which you won 't find anywhere else. Do get that. The new dill pickle curds (I was desperate, ended up ordering curds twice is a miss has pieces of pickle also fried in there, sometimes by themselves, and kinda kills the cheese part a bit. Also, not sure the pickles are natural the ones on my burger plate were kinda yellow. I should 've just ordered the bacon ones twice. Neither of these curds had a dipping sauce, which would have been really nice, but to be fair the menu didn 't suggest there was one so I should have asked. Ultimately, I wouldn 't really come here again, as a passing tourist who prizes food. If I was local, if I was younger, if I wanted to nosh while bowling yes, all of those things. Have a couple drinks in a unique atmosphere, maybe with a dish of curds to go with? Sure. So I 'll round up to 4 stars for ambiance and quality.
The Nook Went here late night for a juicy Lucy and some fries! It was quite good. The burger we had #7) was good for the patty, but the toppings we had were pretty low quality. The fries and curds were all decent but nothing out of this world. The vibes and atmosphere were 10/10 super classic and old school.
The nook is the best burger place in the twin cities, hands down. The vibes, the food, the service are all top notch. Whoever the original jucy lucy was doesn't matter, because they make the best one! I get the Paul molitar jucy everytime and it is always fantastic. The fries are perfect (paired with the house made ranch! and the cheese curds are done the right way beer battered. For an extra experience, get the nook curds with honey and bacon. We love the basement, which is plastered with dollar bills and beer signs. They have a happy hour for some appetizers and beers from 3:30 5:30 on week nights. We went before a wild game and there was no wait for a table but it gets busy later on. There's always plenty of street parking out front.
The Nook is a top-tier dive bar. A quaint, hole-in-the-wall that serves award-winning burgers. I had the purple and gold burger, and although they are award-winning, I was still pleasantly surprised at the quality. Don't even get me started on the fries. Hand-cut and perfectly seasoned. Needless to say, I will be back!
