La Source - Saint-Nazaire

We came here out of season, on a balmy Halloween lunchtime. We both chose cheese based salads, which were really good, as was the friendly service and great location in the village square. Cant fault it in any way thanks for a great lunch.

We were attracted by the nice terrasse setting on the main plaza of the village. Waiters were welcoming. I ordered a goat cheese salad which was tiny with not much ingredients in it and tasteless. Industrial sauce from a bottle was used for the salad.

We were about 12 of the same family to sit and have some snack and drinks. We took 2 tables and brought them closer. The waiter said this could not be done and wanted us to sit around one and only table, which, according to him, can accomodate up to 17 people and orders. We disagreed and told him so as we needed a bit of space to enjoy ourselves. Plus, we mentioned some clients were just sharing a table for 2. He then became nervous and blamed his boss for willing to maximize profit. This policy was obviously only to be enforced for us. (Otherwise, they would have eliminated all tables with less than 5 patrons). It did not make any sense. We then decided to leave and spend some 150€ elsewhere. The village is really lovely and definitely deserve a stop. These premises though deserve a full new management team with real business acumen as well as customer service skills. Until then, just avoid this place. (We even had 2 senior McDonald's store managers amongst us trying to teach and explain this waiter some basic business rules, but to no effect). Stay away.

Sat down at the wrong table next to the restaurant where we normally eat when we go to the village. What a great mistake. Great food,reasonably priced friendly and efficient staff.who were happy to bail out our minimal french . Would thoroughly recommend but make sure you sit at the right tables otherwise you will still get a good value lunch. He as fast you win tails you win. commend but be careful you sit in the right part What a great mistake. Foof

The baked Camembert!!! Had late morning drinks here then decided to stop for lunch as it's set on the most picturesque of squares, with an amazingly huge plane tree at its centre, in this most amazing of villages. So which salad to choose? Two of us had the salade de galines chicken amongst other things at 13.50 euros. And two of us fromage roti the aforementioned baked Camembert at 14.50. A couple of glasses of rose, a beer and a panache with a carafe of water filled from the fountain behind us!! Plus 4 coffees and a bill of just over 70 euros. Presentation of the food was amazing, freshness beyond question, quality of food and service excellent. Good loos keep an eye on Yorick though!!
