Incredible food (a special vegetarian menu for one of my family was prepared), attentive, professional and friendly staff, the location, a wonderful room with incredible views... I could go on. I spent my time here on a cloud and would very much recommend to anyone. Absolute luxury but firmly keeping to its mountain roots. Thank you to everyone at La Bouitte for making our stay so special!!
My wife and I recently had a 5 course tasting menu here, accompanied by the wine pairings. The food was incredibly rich, as one might expect in a Michelin 3 star restaurant. However, the wine pairings were very poor. All but one were very young (2018, two 2019 and a 2020), most were local and all but one retail at less than €30 a bottle. For 5 small glasses of these uninspiring wines we were charged €150 each plus an additional €45 each for a glass of non vintage champagne. The total bill was over €970, which I personally believe is totally unacceptable for a meal accompanied by extremely average wines. As an aside, we were both unwell the next day, so much so that my wife was unable to eat again for over 24 hours following a bad case of nausea and diarrhoea in the following morning.
We were chosing between the one in Courchevel with three Michelin stars and La Bouitte and ended up reserving a table at La Bouitte. We had a lovely dinner experience, having chosen the four surprises. All of the courses were delicious, beautifully presented, breads and butters great as well. They ask you before you order the surprises as to your dietary limitations, we have none but I recommend mentioning if you mind smoked flavour like I do. But again, that's just me, the rest was amazing. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, I chose the wine pairings and they were great, all French and all white I appreciated Burgundy Chardonnay pairing with sweetbread. I really enjoyed the fish with arugula the fish had wonderful buttery and nut taste and arugula had fried capers as a flavouring which made a spicy punch without the traditional acidity of capers. The whole dinner service was wonderfully paced with amazing staff and a knowledgeable sommelier, all of the details were great, nothing to complain about. I really enjoyed the combination of haute cuisine in the rustic Savoy style with heart and sould poured into the meals themselves. There are top rates restaurants that are a mere gimmick, this is a genuine thing. Do book, it's so much worth it! Also, the small desert section was extraordinary :
We first came in 2016 and it was magical. Seated in the wonderful lodge and offered a pre dinner drink from a superb list of vintage champagne. Then moved into an incredibly romantic side room, served wonderful food including sweet meats, paired with stunning wine and left very happy. I’m so sad it didn’t repeat this time. We were ushered straight to our table and left waiting for some time until we were offered water for the table and a drink. As others have commented, non vintage (good but not €50 a glass?! we opted for the 5 course surprise. the best dish was the raclette souffle amouse bouche. the rest was rather unremarkable and dare I say the cheaper menu options. Wine pairings did not stand out, bar the riesling. The pairing with the steak was particularly poor a young fruit forward red better suited to game. And to end, the coffee was dreadful and sadly we did not enjoy the petits fours. I wonder if the cost challenges of haute cuisine, post covid debts and inflation have started to bite. Wish them all the best and hope to see this beautiful spot back to its peak in future. In the mean time, recommend visitors go for a la carte rather than the tasting menu.
This is my 2nd time at this restaurant. The last being a brunch menu. I was excited to compare with the dinner service menu. I was very happy with experience! Service, while lacking in coordination at times, was excellent! There is just an abundance of people taking care of you 100% of the time. The menu. 5 surprises and wine pairing, was simply perfect, of course. The meal included adjustments based on my dos don'ts. Truly a fun and amazing experience. We closed the place down and missed the opportunity to thank the chef... Merci Chef!
