Contribuiți la feedbackStopped here for lunch. They kindly accomodated us as we were late for a french lunch. Lovely food. Extremely reasonably priced. Great staff and lovely friendly chef. Would highly recommend
We went for lunch and chose to have the 14€ complet meal - 5 courses plus wine. The first course was a tasty pea soup, accompanied by homemade herby croutons.....superb! A tureen containing more than enough for two large bowls each. Next came a melon and Parma ham dish, with a nicely dressed side salad and fresh bread. The melon was beautifully ripe and tasty and there was a generous portion of ham too. The main dish was a large quarter of roast chicken on a bed of garlic mash with onion gravy. The chicken had been cooked very well and was tasty and tender. The mash was very well seasoned and just the right amount .The cheese board came next with 6 generous slabs of well chosen assorted cheeses, all of which were really tasty. The meal was finished off with a slice of chocolate torte and creme anglais with a fruit drizzle. My daughter is not keen on many desserts, so I asked if they had some vanilla ice cream instead, and they were very obliging in finding some for her, which was much appreciated. The red wine , included in the price, was also delicious and complemented the meal well. The service was superb; friendly and efficient. The meal represents astonishingly good value for money and I have yet to find somewhere in the Dordogne which provides better quality of food at such a competitive price. Definitely a must for anyone staying in the region.
14 euro per head! Unbelievable! This place defies belief! We had a superbly cooked meal for the princely sum of 14 euro per head (including 1/4 l per wine per person)It is a set menu, so no choices, so you get what you are given and leave what you do not want. For starters we had vegetable soup (superb) with the most delicious croutons that I have ever eaten, followed by a tasty couscous salad. The main was tartiflette (excellent) which was then followed by a very respectable cheese board and THEN a rather scrummy chocolate mouse! The wine was also very agreeable and went down a treat! Would I go back? Yes, in fact I would visit that area of France again just to go there! Would I recommend? Yes, Yes, Yes.I know the owner reads the reviews so as a direct message to you I would like to congratulate you on your restaurant. I am a high contributor on TA and if you read my reviews I do not lavish praise randomly and consider my comments to be fair and based on price. I would have given this the same review if I had of paid another 10 or 15 euro extra per head (please do not increase your prices as I will not be popular)! based on the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chef. Well done!
Be aware that the single menu means any differences need signalling in advance - we had misunderstood, and gave the kitchen no notice of our vegetarians. They gamely rustled up excellent food to go alongside our wonderful carte of soup, pate, beef bourguinonne. Cheese was plentiful, and the desert was lovely. Children shared one portion.Thank you!
What a great eatery and what great value. Soup starter. Onion quiche. Magret with cherry sauce and chips. Cheese. Dessert. Wine 14 Euros per head. Very welcoming. We sat outside on their small terrace.
