Manoir De La Grassinais - Saint-Malo

Ok, so it’s in the middle of a retail park with big stores all round, near a traffic roundabout where five busy roads converge. Your idea of heaven? Well, think again. The owners of this old manor house clearly refused to sell up when developments were happening all around them. Thankfully. Drive into the courtyard surrounded by stone walls and trees, and you’re into another world, a calmer, quieter, more peaceful one. You would think you were in deep countryside, so successfully are you insulated from the sounds of modernity outside. We much enjoyed staying here. The room was elegant, nicely presented and comfortable. The new owner (he has only been in charge for a month) obviously loves the place. It’s only a pity that the restaurant isn’t offering evening meals at present. Maybe in the future? It would be nice to think so. We were heading for the Portsmouth ferry, for which this is a convenient étape the port is less than 10 minutes away. But Saint Malo is a wonderful place. While you’re there, make sure you walk round the ancient city walls and wander the historic streets. When you realise how most of Saint Malo was razed to the ground during World War 2, you see what a miracle of reconstruction has been achieved here. By the way, we’ve found that Logis de France hotels are always reliable for their quality. We’ve stayed in a number of them. They are well worth tracking down right across France.

In a strange location, but once inside the gates you can forget about that. Has the atmosphere of a country manoe house. The staff are charming, helpful and friendly. The food in the restaurant is excellent, but it is closed on Sunday evening (as are many in France). The Staff will recommend somewhere for you to dine.

Small intimate restaurant with friendly staff and superb food. Each dish was freshly cooked with excellent presentation and tasted as good as it looked. Nothing disappointed even the coffee was quality. We will be back........

The bosses are very welcoming. A nice place.

The hotel has been completely rechecked. The bedding has been changed for super high-end mattresses. I had a good night. prices are good. the building is comfortable/charming. The staff is nice. I highly recommend.
