My wife and I picked up fresh halibut here. Delicious. The best halibut we have ever had. Bar none. Highly recommneded.
I used to watch 'Pete's Frootique' on the TV show Midday, at lunch time, which was broadcast from the City Market in Saint John. I also remember when I lived in Fredericton, I would go to Saint John on occasion. Once, when I went there, I wanted to get a tub of lobster because I remember my mom did so one time when we were on vacation when I was younger, and she seemed to enjoy it a lot. So, I found a place that sold lobster in a tub. There were 2 different prices and so I asked the guy at the counter what the difference was. In Maritime humour, he told me in a very friendly manner, the more expensive one is the one 'you get for yourself'. The cheaper one is the one you get for 'your mother in law'. I couldn't believe he said that. It was hilarious. OMG, my mom would have loved that joke. So, of course, I ended up getting the more expensive one. It's a fun market, and they sell all sorts of things, but getting lobster in a tub, that you don't have to declaw yourself is definitely worth it
Loved this market in every way. While not as large as Quincy or my hometown WESTSIDE Market in CLE the atmosphere and offerings were just right. I had an excellent, highly caffeinated coffee from Java Moose and the best gyro I've had in some time from Chapati the Donair chapati itself was freshly baked and tasty full of grilled lamb, and fresh onions, cucumbers, pickles, tomatoes, and tahini. The fruit and veggie vender I frequented was fair and of high quality. And the woman who sold me a market bag hit me right in the gut with: the only good thing about your president is that more good Americans are moving here and less NB's are emigrating south!
I love lords seafood, however, I'm very upset that you are closed on Saturday and Sunday. I work regular business hours, which, leaves me no opportunity to go during the week. When i can go, you are closed. It makes no sense to me why that is.
