The market is well maintained with a very long history. It has a varied mix of shopping facilities and dining places to sit or take. It was very busy during morning and lunch time due to the cruise ship in the port and... the lunch break. But after 14:00 it died down and you could take time to look at the stands and take photos.
So much fresh and smoked seafood. Many cooked options as well as, chowder, fish and chips, bit also consider a piece of smoked salmon, or smoked dumpsters or mackerel.
We stayed here during the tour on the market in Saint Johns and ordered some lobster rolls. Very fresh and tasty and a great price (the US-Canada exchange rate helped).
Well, lobster poutine sounded like a good idea at the time. But the execution was not enjoyable at all. Bland fries, not that much lobster and loads of thick, creamy, yellow gravy. If you stop at this food counter in Saint John City Market, I...recommend trying something else.
