Mashawi Zein - Saint John

My wife and I stopped in as I was wanting shawarma, nothing was open so she suggested here. Neither of us have eaten here before. So we asked the server what was included in the shawarma plate, and he informed us, rice, salad, onion rings. We said ok and ordered. As we were waiting my wife was going through the reviews and noticed a picture of the shawarma plate with nuts (cashews I believe) on the rice. This was concerning as she is deathly allergic to them. I immediately asked the server and he said that yes there was on the rice. We had to cancel our order due to this and informed him of the reason. He immediately apologized and refunded the money. We felt bad as the food was ready to be packaged up for take out. He handled this wonderfully, without complaint or hesitation. So unfortunately I can’t rate the food. Only think I have to suggest is to include this into your menu in the future to prevent this from happening again.Dietary restrictions: Should be informed of which menu options contain nuts and what type of nuts they include.

Being Lebanese, the food is very far from what we are used to eat.We don't add lettuce to tabboule, we don't add hummus to burger, our shawarma is not fajita and our hummus is much thicker.We had Syrian food before but this one is diffrent.Sorry

No water when you dine in , in my belive each restaurant should offer water for free. Food is good ?

We enjoyed our dining experience in this homey restaurant. The food is fresh and tasty. The dinner plate comes with a salad dressed with a piquant pomegranate molasses dressing. Delicious! Our waiter gave us personalized, attentive service. We finished the evening with tea and cookies. Give this place a try. You won't be disappointed!
