Viva Pasta - Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! We found it through the Find Me Gluten Free app and were very pleased with what we discovered. The bistro is charming, located near the river and boasts beautiful architecture with a great ambience. The staff was friendly and attentive. When I mentioned my gluten intolerance to our waitress, she was very helpful in explaining the menu. Each time our food was brought out, whether by her or a food runner, they made sure to indicate which dishes were gluten-free and safe for me to eat. It was clear that all staff members were informed about the allergy, which made me feel very comfortable and safe. They even provided gluten-free crackers and bread with butter for me, while my husband enjoyed the traditional bread and butter. This is something I haven't seen at other restaurants before. And the food was outstanding! We both started with the "crème de carotte" soup, which was delicious, and then shared the beef carpaccio and beet salad, both of which were incredible. For our main dishes, I had the tagliatelle in Brie sauce, while my husband had the confit beef cheek. We were so full afterwards that we couldn't even think about dessert, but we will definitely save room for it next time because the dessert menu sounded amazing.
