Visitors to St Jean de Luz are spoilt for chioice when it comes to restaurants. Those nearer to the harbour can be busy. This one at the beach end tends to be less busy. This was our third visit to Ibaia. We went early on a Tuesday evening. It is a modest but authentic basque restaurant which serves a small range of fish dishes. We chose fish soup and grilled giant prawns for starters. The soup was as good as the best I have had and the prawns were fresh and perfectively seasoned. For main course I had sea bream with baked potato. It was split, boned and grilled so was easy to eat, and it came with an olive oil, vinaigrette and herb sauce. My partner had Hake with a chorizo-based sauce. Both were fresh and delcious. For desert we had Tarte Tatin and Gateau-Basque. The bill, with two beers, came to a very reasonable €63.There are busier restaurants and trendier ones too nearby. We have tried several of them and they are good too. But for quality and value for money, this is the one that we will return to.
The picture That shows at the heading is definitely not a picture of the restaurant concerned. Friendly service. Food is oke
Greeted by friendly waiter and quickly shown to our table. Food was of a reasonably good quality and service was attentive. Good value for money
This is the typical restaurant of St Jean Deluz its greedy its pricing is archaic because I know, I live here. It changes in high season dramatically. Perhaps This town should have a restaurant which is a dining room the size of the football pitch because the food is all the same and it's all mediocre. A disgrace to French cuisine. With a view
