Contribuiți la feedbackAfter many nights of Michelin in the star restaurants we needed a change. This is a sweet little country bistro with homemade Fois grass and homemade salmon. The waitress was very friendly and we had a nice wine for dinner. Only open... during the weekend and also is the local bar, so you can just for drinks.
Our group of 40 booked the entire restaurant and had a wonderful evening. The food was hearty, tasty and plentiful. We have booked a pre-ordered meal that was good, but what made the evening was the kindness and generosity of the owners and... We had booked wine, but had assumed that this would only include the bottles on the tables at the beginning. However, other bottles were brought generously without request. The house Weinrot was excellent. Many of our party chose to drink here over the weekend because of this hospitality and the fact that this place was much more welcoming and better value than our Auberge next door.
We stayed three days in Saint Jean and spent every evening in La Fontaine, at least for some pre-dinner drinks. Armelle and Patrick were very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. We were a group of 40 English friends and had a really great time in the family-run bar and restaurant. Unfortunately we only had dinner there once, as we were booked in La Bonne idea next door. If we had known about the much better quality and atmosphere we had spent every night in La Fontaine, we will always remember the fun evening we had there and we will make sure we come back!
We had lunch on Sunday. Had the menu of confit duck as main and choice of charcuterie or leek gratin as starters The leek gratin and charcuterie were homestyle and delicious. The confit duck had no crispy skin, but was a good... Size portion, as both entice and main meal times. Duck was served with vegeten. We had the cheese plate that had a selection of beautiful ripe cheeses of three kinds with a small salad. Friendly staff and fast service Only a champagne on the menu (100% Meunier grapes). See attached photos for menus and costs For game-meat lovers they had a good choice of game including rabbits, doe, deer and wild boar Nice stop while visiting Villers Bretonneux, where the new Australian war memorial is and on the way to Cdg Airport
Went there for my birthday upon recommendation from our B&B hosts. Nice village environment but food expensive for what it is. Paid 33 euros per person for a 4 course meal. Starters and main were of reasonable quality and quantity but cheese and dessert seemed...a bit 'production line '. My duck was cooked well but my partners steak was very fatty and lots of sinew. The a la carte menu was also expensive which is why we felt it was better value to have the set meal.
