I had their Buttermilk Pancakes, which I added caramelized bananas to for an extra $3. The dish was served with a side of hashbrowns and a choice of meat I picked breakfast sausage). The food came very quickly, and was fresh and piping hot. It was delicious; the pancakes are among the best that I've ever had. The price's very reasonable, and they also give you a complimentary butter tart at the end of the meal. This is a nice little gem that I HIGHLY recommend.<br/ <br/ Buttermilk Pancakes $9 $3 for caramelized bananas):<br/ 4/5<br/ The dish consisted of two pancakes, a side of potato hash, and a choice of meat I piked the breakfast sausage). The pancakes weren't very large I've been spoiled by the huge pancakes from Jethros and the Elbow Room Cafe); I'd say that they're probably about 1/4 the size of the ones from Jethros, which is still subtantial. What they lacked in size however, they sure made up for it in taste: the pancakes were very light, soft and fluffy and did not suffer from the horrible, bitter baking soda aftertaste that plagued the ones from Jethros. The caramelized bananas, which I added for an extra $3 charge, provided a great sweetness as well as fragrance of cinnamon. The potato hash were nice and crispy, albeit a tad underseasoned nothing that a squirt of ketchup can't solve). The sausages were well-seasoned, juicy and had a nice bit of pepperiness to them. I don't know if they were housemade or purchased, and honestly I didn't care; they were delicious and every bit as good as the ones from Bistro 122.<br/ <br/ Complimentary Butter Tart:<br/ These were given out in lieu of candies/mints that you receive with your bill. The tart was fantastic; buttery, rich and filled with walnuts and cranberries. You can tell that they use really good ingredients here.
Great little spot for breakfast! Off the corner of kingsway and knight street, this little cafe had about roughly 10 tables. We've been coming here for over a year and breakfast now has gotten super busy. Portions are great and menu is small enough with a range of variety. The 1 Asian server will eventually make her way over to you if the cafe is full and the nice owner/cook will likely also come out and greet you too. Just a tad bit squishy here and when busy, service can take awhile.. be patient
My boyfriend and I go here almost every weekend. They're fairly new so you never have to wait. Amazing food and huge portions for the price. Also, we love the classic rock tunes. Highly recommend the fresh squeezed juices. Plus, they give you free fresh butter tarts when you leave as a sweet thank you!
I love this cafe, they have the best breakfasts and it a great addition to the neighbourhood. Service is friendly and I love the butter tarts! <br/
Nothing like a diner to perk up one’s spirits! Lately, I’ve been on a bit of a diner binge, having old fashioned breakfasts left, right, and centre. The subject of today’s visit is a new, cute little cafe that’s opened up right across from the King Edward Village complex on Knight St.
