Au fil de la Benaize is a small restaurant in St Hilaire sur benaize in the montmourillion Poitiers area of rural france where the propriter is also the cook,waiter winewaiter thelot.It is quiet superb small tiny intimate,Basicrustic tables and chairs with the door opening on to the streeet.The menu is quiet small but absolutley superb done freshly while you wait by the charning owner .....the night i was there we had steak,never ever have we had better,fresh locally produced.....And heres the big plus while we were dineing the local farmer arrived for a drink and now where can you find this....he is the farmer that bred produced and slaughtered our steak....in this homozinised world where can you find this......well done monsieurIf in the area please go.....superb food nice people all in all near to perfection

Alors la! Sa en vaut le détour, pour un repas d'anniversaire un dimanche midi, un menu complet nous a était proposer pas déçu du tout! Une viande EXCELLENTE BIEN CUITE rare de nos jours vraiment génial! Le décor est agréable, le menu est bon l'entrée et bonne et les dessert valent e détour aussi. Bon restaurant de campagne ! Repas pour 17 personnes réussi.

French food as it should be....! After visiting the area we found this little Gem of a place that serves fabulous food and drink. The menu is a chalk board that is changed daily and usually comprises of 4 starters, 4 mains and 4 deserts at a fixed price per head. We had the homemade Fois Gras terrine, Cote De Boeuf and Apple Tart and it was all very tasty. We had several bottles of great house wine which at the time seemed like a good idea although I regretted it somewhat in the morning. If you are in the area give this place a go although you will need to book as it's often full up.
