Grill Courtepaille - Saint-Denis

Part of the Ibis hotel this restaurant is convenient but I fail to see why anyone would make a special trip to go to it. On a recent stay at the hotel for 3 nights it was raining and cold so each evening we opted...to eat here for convenience. Each evening was actually different, from the first night where the food was nice, to the next night when it wasn’t great to the third night where it was awful. All the nights most of the staff were miserable to downright rude. With the exception of a young tall slim girl who was smiley and friendly all the staff were brusk and unhelpful. One evening we asked a waiter a large man) for some beers and he snapped back to order from our own waiter. He didn’t pass on our needs to our waiter who we never saw again. It was obvious that the french people were being served differently from ourselves. My main complaint though was ALL the food we had was cold. Jacket potatoes were so cold then when I put butter in the middle it didn’t melt. A strange system is run here where a plate is brought from the encampment with potatoes, chips on and they then wait for the meat. If it’s not ready it all goes cold, and I hate cold food If it were not attached to the Ibis I would not go here

The addition of some new waitresses has changed the dining experience here. Had 4 meals here and could not find fault. Good to see the improvement in the staff Will be back again

There's a vast array of steaks and the cuisse de canard (leg of duck) was really quite good, albeit delivered very quickly from the kitchen. I would say most diners were on business or staying in one of the attached hotels so the turnaround time...is very efficient. I'd recommend it to steak lovers.

Next door is McDonald which is only the last choice. Being in France, the home of Paul Bocuse you expect something special, created with passion. Well, this is not found here. Steak which you can not bite even though the preparation was ok, creme caramel,...only Pudding from the fridge. The wine was aceptable. Well, tomorrow I will desperately search something else...
